Our Story
From a stationery supplier in 2016 to an integrated education manufacturing, printing and procurement company serving clients nationwide.
Compubooks began in 2016 with a straightforward proposition: South African institutions were buying educational supplies from too many suppliers, each with separate accounts, lead times and delivery schedules. The administrative cost of that fragmentation fell entirely on procurement officers.
The answer was to widen what one supplier could credibly deliver. Stationery came first, then textbooks, technology, laboratory equipment, furniture and sport. Each addition was made only once we could supply it properly rather than simply list it.
Manufacturing and printing followed, because controlling production is what makes lead times reliable rather than aspirational. Today Compubooks manufactures its own stationery under the Thuto Stationery brand, prints educational and examination material, imports through OEM partnerships, and distributes to all nine provinces.

2016
Compubooks is founded
Levi Mnguni establishes Compubooks (Pty) Ltd as an educational stationery supplier, drawing on more than a decade of experience in institutional supply.
Growth
Expansion beyond stationery
The catalogue widens into textbooks, ICT equipment, laboratory apparatus, furniture, sport and early learning resources, letting institutions consolidate categories under one account.
Manufacturing
Production brought in-house
Local manufacturing of exercise books, counter books and educational stationery begins, alongside the launch of the in-house Thuto Stationery brand.
Printing
Commercial print capability
Commercial and educational printing is added, covering workbooks, learner support material, examination papers and secure document production.
National
Nationwide distribution
Warehousing and logistics scale to serve all nine provinces from the Pretoria base, supporting large multi-site institutional rollouts.
Today

Compubooks operates across manufacturing, printing, imports, branding, procurement and distribution, serving government departments, universities, TVET colleges, schools, NGOs and corporate clients.
